Inventory of data processing and presentation tools

Stakeholders of IGRAC have expressed their hope that IGRAC will identify and disseminate affordable software for "processing and presentation" of groundwater data. Responding to that question IGRAC started to explore the possibilities by conducting an inventory of such tools. The inventory focuses on:

• low cost, user friendly software, developed for data storage, screening, validation, verification, analysis and presentation,
• the fields of hydrogeology, borehole and well logging, pumping tests, groundwater levels and discharge, soil and groundwater quality.

If the inventory is successful IGRAC will improve access to the software, for instance, by disseminating recommendable tools through its website. This will certainly help organizations with limited budgets to acquire and use the software. Consequently uniformity and quality of data processing and presentation may be improved world-wide.

• Inventory report on tools for groundwater data processing and presentation. This report will give an overview of useful tools identified for groundwater data processing and interpretation, together with information on how they can be obtained and at what cost. The report is scheduled for September 2004.
• Online database presenting background information on inventoried tools. An overview of all available information will be ready after the publication of the inventory report. Some examples are already added to the database.
